About Us

The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS) exists to study Hindu culture in all its depth — religion, languages, literature, philosophy, history, arts, and society, in every period and every part of the world. All Hindu traditions are included.

We are the Centre's Continuing Education Department, teaching Hinduism, Sanskrit, and Yoga since 2003 (online since 2008). Every course is written and taught by working scholars in the field — the same people you'll meet below — and built for students at every level, from complete beginners to those reading Sanskrit sources in the original.

We publish as well: the Mandala Publishing Series offers accessible introductions to Hindu Studies for readers everywhere, and our own Hindu Studies Press is home to Dr Nick Sutton's multi-volume translation of the Mahābhārata's Mokṣa-dharma-parvan.

The Centre is a registered educational charity (No. 1074458). Learn more about its wider work — research, lectures, and peer-reviewed publishing — at the OCHS website.
